Send us your Film via WeTransfer to bluescreen@cubecinema.com, headed up ‘November Bluescreen’. But if you can, then send in either a short Video or Audio clip of 10 to 60 seconds long – Please send this as a separate MP4 file.

The 1st Bluescreen back at our spiritual home since Jan 2020!! Welcome Back! We can’t tell you how much we have looked forward to this moment again!
Its great to be back, but to make this first Bluescreen work, we need to make a few changes to the structure of the evening, but fear not, tonight will actually be a bit of familiar old skool Bluescreen, combined with the new skool Bluestream…
Although it seems weird and quite un-bluescreen like to put rules and regs in place for one of our events, above all else we want to give people a safe and relaxing environment to enjoy Bluescreen back at the Cube, so here’s the lowdown...
Films: Films for the foreseeable to be sent in before the event as per Bluestream, as we want to avoid the usual ‘bluescreen bottleneck’ of people at FOH on entry. We are also going to have a shorter programme too, to limit the time people are in the same space. So we are going to set the total duration of films to be shown to 90 minutes and once we hit 90 mins worth of Films received, we won’t be taking any more films in, but they will be shown first up at the next Bluescreen. (Details/dates to send in Films etc below)
Screening: In addition to the physical Films Screening in the Cinema, we will also be simultaneously streaming the Films online, so for this reason we will be putting together an MP4 Compilation a few days before the event. From a tech pov it will make it a lot easier for us to manage on the night. It will sadly mean we won’t be able to give Filmmakers the opportunity to Intro their Films on the night, but to get around this we thought if people could send in a Video Intro instead, if they wanted.
Audience: We have been thinking long and hard about this, and so for our first one back we will be easing you and ourselves back in and limiting capacity to 30 people. People will also need to buy a ticket prior to the event.
Filmmakers: Will have free entry as per usual and their names will be on FOH on entry, so Filmmakers there is no need to buy a ticket. And we will confirm when your Film has been included in the Programme, to see if you can make it to the screening. We can arrange to seat you next to someone who is in your household/bubble, if required.
Tickets: Will still be a bargain £3.00! There will be no tickets on the door, they will need to be purchased before the event from https://www.headfirstbristol.co.uk/#date=2021-07-28&event_id=65353 Tickets will be sold in a maximum of TWO people per each TICKET BLOCK, but we are also putting up a few ONE Person seating options too. Blocks AA to OO will be available to book (See Cubes show info below for seating plan). Hopefully that all makes sense.
Bar: At the moment The Cube is not running a Bar, due to potential space and congregating issues but you can BYO drinks, until further notice.
If any of the above changes, we will of course update you, so keep checking back in to the Cube Programme Page and also on our FB and Twitter Pages. Any questions please do drop us an email.
So to the Film Submissions… As usual we are looking for Digi Short Films from the BA (Bristol Area) and can be about any subject or genre. The choice is yours!
Submissions are open from – 1st July -
And here’s what you need to do: Send us your Film via WeTransfer to bluescreen@cubecinema.com, headed up ‘July Bluescreen’. And to make things easier for us, the films will need to be in the following format: 20 Minutes and under MP4 only H264 Video Compression File size up to 1GB Data rate under 5,000kb/sec Ideally the smallest size file you can manage is best for us.
If you want to send in an Intro to your film (this is not compulsory btw), send either a short Video or Audio clip of 10 to 60 seconds long – Please send this as a separate MP4 file.

Welcome to... Bluescreen: Bluestream! Bluescreen's streaming night, in conjunction with the Cube Cinema. Basic premise is: You digitally send us your films, we host and screen them to the world! And we will try to keep to as much of our regular 'physical' bluescreen nights structure as possible, i.e. we will stick to screening films in the order they are sent in to us. So we are looking for Digi Short Films from the BA (Bristol Area), and as usual, under 20 minutes, can be about any subject or genre or theme. The choice is yours! If you have a Film you would like to submit, submission dates are open from 31st August and here’s what you need to do:
Send us your Film via WeTransfer to bluescreen@cubecinema.com, headed up ‘Sept Bluestream’. And to make things easier for us, the films will need to be in the following format: MP4 H264 Video Compression File size up to 1GB Data rate under 5,000kb/sec Ideally the smallest size file you can manage is best for us.
Also we loved the Intros some of you did for your Films for the previous Bluestream's, so if you fancy doing an Intro to your film (this is not compulsory btw), either a short Video or Audio clip of 10 to 60 seconds long – Please send this as a separate MP4 file.
Film submission end date will be: 21st September
On the night, tune in here: https://video.cubecinema.com/ and Bluescreen HI-Fi DJ Tom will open proceedings from 19.30, followed by something by the Cube Orchestra and then your Films from 20.00.
Please continue to support your local Film community and invite your friends and come and join us for another heady mix n mashup of great locally produced short films.

27/04/20 - Bluescreen: Bluestream News! Bluescreen: Bluestream Wednesday 27th May 19.30 - Via www.cubecinema.com
As we can’t bring you a physical Bluescreen in May, we have decided to bring Bluescreen to you! And we are planning an online event for May 27th, which we are calling Bluescreen: Bluestream!
Basic premise is: You digitally send us your films, we host and screen them to the world! And we will try to keep to as much of our regular 'physical' bluescreen nights as possible, i.e. we will screen films in the order they are sent in to us.
So we are looking for Digi Short Films from the BA (Bristol Area), and as usual, under 20 minutes, can be about any subject or genre or even about the current situation we find ourselves in. The choice is yours!
If you have a Film you would like to submit, here’s what you need to do: Send us your Film via WeTransfer to bluescreen@cubecinema.com, headed up ‘May Bluestream’. And to make things easier for us, the films will need to be in the following format: MP4 H264 Video Compression File size up to 1GB Data rate under 5,000kb/sec Ideally the smallest size file you can manage is best for us. Also we would love it, if you could do an intro to your film (but its not compulsory), either a short video or audio clip of 10 to 60 seconds long – Please send this as a separate file.
Film submission end date will be Monday May 18th.
On the night, Bluescreen HI-Fi DJ Tom, will open proceedings from 19.30, followed by something by the Cube Orchestra and your Films from 20.00.
We will post up the Transmission details nearer the date.
08/04/20 - May 27th Bluescreen Streaming News! A Bluescreen Special Streaming Event! As we cant bring you a physical Bluescreen next month, we have decided to bring Bluescreen to you!
Details tbc at the moment, but the basic idea is for you - the filmmaker, to send us your digi short films (20 mins and under), and maybe with an additional separate audio or video clip to intro your film too and we screen/stream them.
Further details on formats, where to send and streaming info to follow soon.
So the loose plan is Films on YOUR screen from 20.00, with Tom Bluescreen Hi-Fi DJing some tunes to warm you up beforehand and also maybe an appearance from the Cube Orchestra too.

15/03/20 - Bluescreen 25/03 Cancellation Hi All. Sorry to inform everyone but Bluescreen on the 25th is cancelled, as the Cube will be closed for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully we will be back on May 27th, but with the ongoing health crisis we will keep you posted. The Cube have released a statement, which is in full below... Take care of yourselves out there, love from all at Bluescreen.
Cube Statement: Dearest Cube Members, With the escalation of the coronavirus situation, The Cube has decided to close it’s doors to the public starting from Sunday 15th March for an initial period of two weeks. We have a duty of care to our volunteers, members and our wider community. This is not a decision that has been taken by us lightly. As an autonomous venue, we are lucky to have the ability to make a decision with the health of our community at heart. We want to be able to be focused on those that need us and those we lean on as well as ourselves and our environment. We are aware that people rely on the cube and we will continue to be supportive of each other. We understand how disappointing it is that events/screenings will have to be postponed or cancelled. But we believe that the benefit of the culture does not outweigh the risk of spreading this infection. As the situation evolves we will have a clearer idea about what will be cancelled and what can be postponed. All tickets will be refunded for the first 2 weeks, and we have suspended sales for April for the time being. We will try to reschedule everything. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves. We all love the cube and want to continue to provide the community and collaboration it gives us. It is a chance for us to come together and come up with new and creative ways to do what we do - we are thinking more radio, film streamings rather than screenings, submission projects, collaborative projects online, digital discussion groups, streamed live events. This will be under the banner of The Cube On Ice, watch this space! Keep on washing your hands and looking after each other. Love and solidarity, The Cube

20/04/19 - New 2 hour Bluescreen! Read on… We’ve been chatting and think we need to put a limit on the number of films we receive in at an event. Reason being, over the last year we have had several nights, where we have had 2 -3 and a half hours’ worth of films in, which on one hand is great but it ends up being a very long night for all and the last few films shown only have the filmmaker and friends left watching. So to make it fairer for all, we are going to trial limiting Bluescreens to 2 hours total screening duration, and also to restrict one film to one filmmaker. This will then allow all films to be screened at a reasonable hour and also give the opportunity to the audience to stay and watch them too.
SO WHAT WE ARE BASICALLY SAYING IS, IF YOU GOT A FILM, GET DOWN EARLY!
31/03/19 - Films Screened 27/03 @ Bluecreen A busy night at March's Bluescreen… 21 Films screened and over 2 and a half hours of screentime!!

Thanks all for coming down and especially the Filmmakers, we were treated to yet again a very special evening of great films, well done everyone!
